Getting Ready
It is great to see someone enjoying one of your creations. It encourages me to work. Sometimes the person wearing your creation gives you inspriation for your next project. This is why I love sewing. Each project is so different.
In my last post I metnioned ebooks, sale items, and new creations. I do not want you to think I have forgotten, it has been a bigger project than I had imagined. I am also working on classes for children, young adults and adults. My mind has gone wild with wonderful ideas and I can’t wait to share with you all that I am working on. I will get back to you soon, but I need to do more work!!! I love to sew

New Projects For You
Making plans for your business is a full time job. Right when you think you are exactly where you want to be, a new idea comes into your mind. I truly enjoy being creative and making new outfits for others, as well as myself. Another passion I have is teaching. In this day and age with technology, there is more opportunity to learn long distance. I will be offering lessons and projects on my website very soon. I will have projects such as: making a skirt from jeans, aprons, bibs, making a skirt without a pattern, and more. I hope this will be helpful for you and that you will find it inspiring. Stay in touch. I look forward to bringing you new products.
Time to Move Ahead
It has been some time since I have had a chance to write on my website. I have missed it. I would love to say it is because I have just been so busy, but in reality that is only half of the truth. I am getting over being ill. Not fun when you are trying to get your business going. Some “life” happenings have entered my life as well and has put a crunch on my time. I have been told that I should just put my business on the back burner, or that I should “rethink” what I am trying to do. I am not sure if any of you have had that experience, but it can be discouraging. It is important that you have a business plan. Though no plan is perfect, it keeps you looking ahead and not listening to negativity. A plan is to help you keep your eye on the goal and know in which direction you should go when times get tough. Also, it can remind you why you started your business in the first place. Now that I am beginning to feel better, I am just as anxious to get sewing as before. Laying in bed when you would rather sew is very nerve racking! I have learned that it is more important to get better than just plow ahead only to be stopped again with illness. I will be writing more consistently again with the hope that you will be patient to see how my business will move forward. I am working on the most cost efficient way for you to buy my products on line.
Spring is just around the corner, and I will be having some spring outfits for you to peruse. Please keep checking back to see changes and improvements to my website.
Thank you for dropping in to see what is new. Come back often!
With great appreciation, Carolina
Upstyled Jeans
With just four days until Christmas, so much to think of. Gift giving for the last minute shopper can be hectic. For those who want to add that personal touch, have you thought of upstyling an old pair of jeans. You can make a great skirt for someone on your list. If you cannot sew, then take a look at these two skirts. In the coming year, I will be offering tutorials on how you can make a skirt like this. Next year will bring some great changes to this website.
As one expands on their business, you get great suggestions and wonderful advice. I have been considering many of them, and am preparing some projects for a 2011 release. Keep up with these posts, and you will find all the great projects in the coming year. You can also subscribe on the RSS feed. Stay tuned for a great new year!
Wishing you the best of Holidaysw and a great and bright new year.

Come and Take a Look
From my last post, you know that I am putting some of my work for sale at Atascadero Sewing and Vacuum Center. I want to let you know that if you need to rent a quilting machine, and you live in the Central Coast of California, you can rent one here.
I have put some bibs, a jumper, and a skirt for sale. Coming in January I will start giving lessons. The first lesson will be an apron lesson. Pictures and details to come very soon.
Closing out 2010 and welcoming 2011, I hope you will consider learning how to sew. If you do, make sure you check in on my posts. The first three months of 2011 are coming in with a wave of lessons: January is “Make and Apron”, February will be “Make a Skirt without a Pattern”, and March will be “Making a skirt from a Pair of Jeans”.
Until next time.

Happy Holidays
Holidays
Nights are getting colder, shorter, and we are getting closer to Christmas. It is unbelievable how quickly the years are passing as you get older. I am not sure if it is a good thing or not yet. The jury is still out. I do not want the days to go by so quickly because I feel like I don’t have enough time to sew; or at least to finish all the projects that are brewing in my mind. When I go to town, I see the Christmas lights are on, and the air is crisp, and you feel like a child again waiting for Santa Claus. In the town I live in, we will have a Christmas light celebration this Saturday night. After dusk, all the homes on Vine Street are all lighted up with such elegance. The homes on this street are victorian in architecture. The street is closed off and everyone walks up and down the street just marveling at the artful way the homes are decorated. Some people open up their homes and offer hot chocolate and cookies. You feel like you are in another time period. It is a special and time honored custom in our town. I hope that you have a special custom where you live.
My personal custom is sewing and making tamales for Christmas and menudo for New Years! This year I will stray from custom and spend time preparing new designs and producing more product. Working to build a business does not seem very festive, but I look at it as a blessing and I want to help this blessing grow. I am enjoying studying new fashion ideas and especially love retro and vintage and sewing styles from my Mexican culture. I invite you to check back to see some new inventory. In the upcoming year I will be sharing more creations and styles for you to enjoy and purchase. I wish you the best in the coming year.
Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season and that you will find the time to share your holidays with family and friends.
All the best to you,
Carolina
December can be the end of the year, but I prefer to think of it as the door opening to new opportunity. As my business is in its infancy, there are many decisions to make and many choices that you want to take advantage of. December is my open door. I am begining a partnership with Kim, the owner of Atascadero Sewing and Vacum Center, www.atascaderosewingandvacuum.com , to build a great business relationship. That is why for me, as December is the last month of the year, it is a beginning for me. I met Kim and her mother over 20 years ago when I bought my first Bernina. A Bernina 930 that I still use daily. As the years have passed, many changes have happened in our personal lives, but the constant in our lives has been our love of sewing. So, as this year is ending, a new partnership is beginning.
I wanted to take this opportunity to talk about up-styling. When I was younger, hand me downs were a given. We would add little touches to make them more “mod”, but not to the extent that we do it today. It is an art form on its own. Up-styling clothes gives each piece a unique look for the individual. I enjoy getting to know the person before I begin an ‘upstyle’ project. I have one friend that just had a little girl this summer, and together we come up with ideas to design her son’s clothes into clothes that a young girl could wear. With our current economy, it is nice to know that there are options to redesign clothes at a more affordable price than buying a brand new outfit. I just finished restyling some pants and a sweatshirt and I will be posting those pictures soon.

Until next time,

Home and Holidays
Holiday’s can bring joy to you and add a smile to your face. Along with traveling, family, gift buying, and house cleaning comes stress and exhaustion. That can alter one’s hope to celebrating the holidays. I hope that you can keep things in perspective and enjoy the holiday’s. There is so much good in life, yet we sometimes don’t have time to enjoy. May you have the time and energy to enjoy the spirit of the holidays and time to share with your families and friends. Take time to make lasting memories.
I hope that you have a happy Thanksgiving and have a great Thanksgiving feast! If I can help with holiday gifts feel free to leave me a comment or email me. As you can see in the picture to the right, embroidered towels make a great gift. Check out my other pages for some great ideas for gifts.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Until next time,
Carolina
